How to Follow Cool Softball People on Twitter

twitter How to Follow Cool Softball People on TwitterWhen you first twitter, it can be a bit tricky to get started.  One of the things that helps is finding some great people to follow so you can interact with them.  I have 3 great tips for you to find and start following some really great softball tweeps so that you can have lots of softball fun on twitter.

The first thing you need to do is open a new tab in your browser right now and sign in to twitter. Once you're logged in you can check out these great ways to follow softball people on twitter.

Make Use of Softball Lists on Twitter

The cool thing about twitter lists is that you can simply "follow" the list and you will begin seeing updates from everyone on that list in your twitter feed.  This saves you a lot of time because, without lists, you'd have to go to each persons twitter page individually and click on the following button.  Here are two softball lists you may be interested in.

Stacie's College Softball List - Stacie created a twitter list of college softball players, conferences, and programs.  Click here to see this list.  Once you are there simply click on the green "follow" button.

ProFastpitch Players List by Batter's Choice - This was a list compiled by @BattersChoice and includes players from the NPF.  Follow this list and you will be able to read tweets from NPF players in your twitter feed.  Click here to see this list.  Once you are there, simply click on the green "follow" button.

Look at Who Other People Are Following

One of the best ways to find great people to follow is take a look at who other people are following.  For example, you can go to the list of people I follow and simply click on the follow button next to anyone you are interested in chatting with or hearing from on twitter.

Now it doesn't have to be me.  You can do this with any twitter user.  Just look for and click on their twitter name. That will take you to their twitter page.  Then look for "following" and click on that.  Next, above the feed you will see "tweets" and "people" - click on "people." This will show you who they are following and you can go through the list and click on the green "follow button" for anyone you are interested in following.

Look at Who Other People Are Talking To

Another method of finding people is to look at who others are talking to on twitter.  For example, if you look through Stacie's page, you may see something like this…

staciemahoe-on-twitter

In the picture above, you can see that Stacie is "talking to"  or replying to @SoftballCheers. If you click on @SoftballCheers in this example, it would take you to their twitter page.  Once you're on the @SoftballCheers page, you can see what kinds of things they tweet about as well as click on the green follow button on their page if you want to start following them.

Once you are following people on twitter, you will see their tweets in your main page/feed as soon as you login.  You can "reply" to anything you see to jump into the conversation!  Just look for the reply link under the tweet (see the photo above), type in your response and click "Tweet."

If you like what someone tweeted and want to share it with others, just click "Retweet" (see photo above) and everyone who is following you will have that tweet show up in their timeline/feed.

As you can see in the photo above, you can also "favorite" tweets.  Maybe it's something you really like, just click on favorite.  Twitter keeps all your favorite tweets together in one list so you can refer back to it whenever you want.

Happy tweeting :)

Now it's your turn. I want to know what you think. Comment below with a quick response...
