Life and Softball - What Really Matters

marie eve Life and Softball What Really MattersLast night, I learned a very sad news.

One wonderful athlete I coached a 3 years ago and still active with our program at the senior level got into a terrible car accident saturday night.

No drinking or excessive speed involved.

She is now in the coma in a Montreal Hospital breathing through the assistance of a machine and fighting for her life.

Things aren't looking too good. It's very serious.

Marie-Eve Arcand, a 23 years old young lady is an  amazing person. She has a permanent smile on her face  and is always happy.

She is appreciated by everybody. She is like the sunshine.

As I coach, I absolutely loved coaching her. She works hard. She is always on time. She shows up to every game and practices. She always give her 100% both in games and in practices.

And she is also a hell of a player. Fast. Great defensive skills. And a good stick. Can play everywhere.

A dream for a coach.

But more importantly, the nicest and most generous person you  could ever meet…marie eve2 Life and Softball What Really Matters

On her Facebook page, she's received so much words of encouragement that it's evidence of how many friends she has and how many people really appreciate her.

Everytime something like this happens, it makes you put things in perspective.

It's sad but it's often then that you realize what softball can bring to you in terms of friendships and amazing experiences and how softball is just a game after all.

It's often what this game brings rather than the game itself that we get the most out of.

All my thoughts are with Marie-Eve hoping that she will once again show her legendary determination and strength and  win at least one more battle - for her life this time.

Let's take a moment and really appreciate what we have. It can be gone in an instant.
