Mark,

Thanks for quantifying this! It makes me think about how many games we have had where we though, geez, these girls are not focused at all, because they were chitty-chatty in pre-game warm ups, and then they ended up playing their best games ever!

This is a great hint and a good competitive edge to have.

I, like the coach you mentioned in the video, discovered to female communication requirements the hard way. My wife suggested a similiar tact to your recommendation and it made a big difference in how the players focused during practice. Thanks for sharing.

Marc,

I'm not a softaball player but this is a tip every coach should take. I always allow clients to speak for 5-10 minutes about what's going on in their lives and then we get down to coaching.

As a leader in the corporate world, I was one of the few managers who disagreed with the saying, "don't bring your personal lives to work." Even the managers who would agree with this would bring their personal lives to work (expcept the hard nosed ones who would just take it out on other people).

Also, the folks that performed best were those who arrived at the office at least 20 minutes earlier because it was time to enable them to get the social chit chat out of the way.

Great video Marc.

Thanks,

Trish
