Free Girls Softball Practices Drills – Slash Bunt Drills

Purpose: Bunting drill to develop the skill to slash bunt.

Procedure: A complete infield is in place and a pitcher throws from the mound (or a pitching coach throws from 45 feet away), behind an L-shaped screen for protection. Runners are at first and second. A screen between third and home, about 15 feet away from the plate, protects the third baseman, who will break with the pitch toward home. The hitter shows bunt, the pitcher checks the runners and throws to the plate, and the defense charges in. The hitter pulls the bat straight back, and a with a choked-up grip and short stroke, drives the ball through the shortstop hole.
