Free Softball Drills- Tee Drill: Hit to Where It's Pitched

Purpose: Learn to hit the ball on inside or outside pitches. It can be modified for height by adjusting the tee.

Equipment: Two tees and a supply of practice balls. Set the two tees about 12 - 18 inches apart with one out in front of the other and set higher. This simulates the ball being pitched to different locations.

Players: One batter and several players shagging the balls with the coach calling out instructions.

Field: Set up tees at home plate and use the full field, letting all players field the balls and practice situation plays.

Instruction: The hitter sets up and is told to hit to the right or to the left, taking a swing at the appropriate ball on the correct tee. The batter should be instructed as to the proper hitting mechanics for hitting to each side of the field.
