Fun Softball Drills – Basic Sliding Drill

Purpose: To learn different softball sliding techniques.

Procedure: The team's divided into two groups. Group 1 is in the outfield on the right sideline, and group 2 is in the outfield on the left sideline. A 30 foot piece of cardboard is put 30 feet away from each sideline. A moveable based is put around 3 feet from the end of the cardboard. The head coach and the assistant coaches are at separata sliding stations in a position to help the players. The first player in each line runs toward the appropriate base and practices a particular sliding technique. After sliding, the players go to the end of their respective lines, and the drill will continue for as long as desired.
