Fun Softball Drills – One-Hand LAD Bat Drill

Purpose: To develop the proper action of the lead arm, for hitting a softball, in the swing.

Procedure: Set up in an area that has a screened net or batting tunnel. This drill can be done in a garage, basement, yard, or gym. Position yourself in front of a net or tunnel with a partner (feeder) kneeling about eight feet away, just off your front knee. The feeder triggers the cocking action by dropping the throwing hand just before flipping the ball. As the feeder flips the ball, cock your lead arm backward and swing with only the lead arm, using a short, quick downward swing.
