Fun Softball Drills - Twelve Strike

Purpose: To enable the batter to see live pitching and to practice swinging at strikes when softball hitting.

Procedure: A pitcher is on the mound with a full-geared catcher behind the plate, and the hitter is in the batter's box. The batter gets 12 strikes. A strike is called when a pitch considered to be a ball is swung at, when a pitch is swung at and missed, and when a pitch delivered in the strike zone is not hit. The batter keeps hitting until she has had 12 strikes. The next batter comes on deck after 10 strikes. This drill can be done with fielders and base runners.
