Softball Batting Drills - Wall Swings

Purpose: A drill for softball hitting which teaches players how to avoid casting the barrel in a long, sweeping swing.

Procedure: The batter stands facing the wall, about a bat's length away. She assumes her batting stance and swings. The bat should not touch the wall if the hands are going to the ball. If the batter has a long, sweeping swing, the bat will hit the wall.
