Softball Catcher Drills - No Hands

Purpose: To learn how to use the body to block the ball. Great drill to teach softball catchers how to block balls.

Procedure: Balls are thrown from about 30 feet away. The catcher places her hands behind her back. With shoulders rounded and head down, she drops directly to her knees to block balls. The goal is to keep the ball in front of the body and near the plate. The catcher should also work on blocking balls that are a foot or two off the plate. This is a great drill for the development of a softball catcher.
