Softball Hitting Drills – Hip-Rotation Drill

Purpose: This softball hitting drill is meant to develop proper hip rotation and learn how to remain balanced at the point of contact, skills necessary to pull the softball.

Procedure: Set up in front of a net or at the plate with a feeder kneeling in front of you, just off your front hip. The feeder flips the ball toward your front hip so that you can pivot and drive the ball into the net to the left (for a right-handed hitter). Use a batting tee if you don't have someone to feed you pitches. The feeder should alternate high and low tosses to help you learn how to adjust your hands to different pitches.
