Softball Practice Drills – Chair Drill

Purpose: To train the fielder to stay low and allow her the opportunity to experience the feeling from the correct lower body position when softball fielding a ground ball.

Purpose: Two players face each other a short distance apart. The fielder sits on the front edge of the chair's seat. The right-handed fielder should position her feet with the left foot slightly in front of the right. The feeder should toss ground balls to the glove side of the fielder, straight at the fielder, and to the fielder's backhand. The fielder can use a glove, a paddle or her barehand.
