Softball Hitting Drills - Throw the Bat for More Power

There are certain types of softball hitting drills that I love.  I love softball hitting drills that are simple to execute, don't require complicated equipment, can be turned into a competition between athletes, will reinforce and reward use of proper mechanics, and will give  the athletes instant feedback as to whether they are doing it right or not allowing me to step away and knowing they can ''self-correct" themselves.

The softball hitting drill in this video is one of those drills.  That's why it is one of my favorites!

Hi Coach,
I like using the top of a tee for the throwing the bat drill. We don t like 34 oz metal objects flying around.
What direction should the bat go to, pitcher/2nd base or maybe 1st base?
cheers, Jim

Good drill. We use a yellow wiffleball bat throw to maximize extension & weight transfer. We'll throw it directly over the mound focusing on the hands pulling the body through, otherwise the shoulders end up dominating the effort (finishing to your pull side instead of through the path of the ball).

Yes I would throw it directly at the mound. You want to train your hitter to hit the ball down the ball. The yellow whiffleball bat will work too.
