Softball
It’s hard. It’s dirt. It’s death defying
It’s pain. It’s crashing. It’s not crying
You play your hardest, but still remain weak.
Your coaches train you, to bring your talent to the peak.
It’s an art form, a job, a business, no less.
If one thing’s for sure, it’s the one of the only girl’s sports that brings on all of the stress.
It’s not necessarily one of the nicer sports around
In fact, to some of us, it’s a chance to spit our aggression out.
But to others, it’s one of the ways to show our parents that we REFUSE to act how they wish to require.
But softball’s also more than tough, mean, raw aggression.
With all of the spit, sweat, blood and sometimes tears that we girls put into it.
It’s also a way to meet new people.
Life long friends that will actually last a lifetime.
It’s a way to show people what you’re really about
And what you think life is meant to be spent on, without a second guess or a doubt.
So whatever you think softball is really about, you’re probably right,
But to some of us, there is still a doubt.
Yes softball’s tough, expensive, and time consuming,
But for those of us who play, we’re doing something that we love, something that we believe in.
And yes, as I mentioned before, softball can be a pain in the ass,
But to my team and I, it’s all worth it.
Every dirt filled crevice and bloody sweat streak.
Whether we’re sliding around in the dirt, smashing the ball, or diving to catch a ball in the grass
Running up to catch the pop-up, crashing, landing by falling on top of each other, and laughing off our ass.
For us, softball is a way to prove how good we really are and can be.
We are a family, a group, one person as a whole
Whether we’re talking about the coach, the trophies, or the entire team.
We remain together, always joking, and always playing with each other
And always competing together, sweating, bloody, and mean.

Softball Diamonds

It is true,
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.
Although the diamond I think
Of it not set in a ring.

It is green and brown
And has a mound.
It also has 4 bases that are
Attached to the ground.

There is a catcher and
A pitcher too.
As well as three basemen and
A short stop to
Follow through.

Three outfielders on the
Green to catch the balls
That find wings.

There is a coach
He points, yells and
even screams to stop the
offender from scoring
it seems.

But most of all, there
Is one last thing, my
Favorite diamond I
Speak of is not
Set in a ring.

You’ll find this
Diamond in any park,
But most of all you’ll find
This diamond in
My HEART !
